Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) is a private university system offering associate, bachelor, master's, and PhD degree programs in arts and sciences, aviation, business, engineering, computer programming, cyber security and security and intelligence. It is the largest, fully accredited university system specializing in aviation and aerospace, and has campuses in Daytona Beach, Florida and Prescott, Arizona, and other locations.
The University is very expensive but prestigious, obviously is not easy to join a degree or program with ERAU, even though you are a NATO military you need a legal translated transcriptions of your background, IELT test or similar certified and a lot of money (this to join the online campus or worldwide). But few people knows you can create an account with them anyway (I found an ERAU reference at Naval Air Station of Sigonella) and to keep up to date with them and joining e-learning courses for free through CANVAS platform.
Aviation 101, for example, is a free online Introduction to Aviation Course at your own pace to learn fundamentals that will give you a head start to your aviation career.
Aviation 101 course is designed to introduce you to a variety of subjects pertaining to the aviation industry. This course will not teach you how to fly. Rather, it will teach you a lot of the ground knowledge that you need to know to be a successful pilot.
This course contains an introduction to the course, followed by nine lessons and three tests. The course is split into three parts. In each part, there will be three lessons, followed by a test. The material in each lesson will be presented in video format. At the completion of each lesson, you will have a quiz. Each quiz and test will be graded automatically and a minimum score of 80% is required to move on to the next lesson. Each lesson should take about an hour to complete, more or less.
The Aviation 101 course is intended to provide an introduction to many topics in aviation. It is not intended, nor will it replace, professional flight instruction from a certificated flight instructor.
